With over 20 years of experience as a professional educator, I have taught in both Florida public and private schools and have worked as a private tutor and private teacher for the past four years. My transition into private education came with some uncertainty—but it ultimately transformed the way I understand how children learn best.

Working closely with homeschool families and parents seeking one‑on‑one tutoring, I’ve been blessed to support children whose families value a genuine love of learning and reading. Many of these families participate in the Florida Step Up For Students Scholarship Program, which allows them to personalize their child’s education through homeschool instruction, tutoring services, and educational enrichment.

Over the past two decades, I’ve seen how traditional classroom approaches to teaching literature—such as excessive annotating, constant written responses, and short passage analysis—can unintentionally diminish a child’s joy in reading.
